Columbus' Diary

Last year, I wrote this story in How Things Are in America class.

Columbus’ Diary

Aug 3^rd, 1492

It was raining yesterday but today is fine.

I’m Christopher Columbus. My job is voyager. I write a diary from today because I start a voyage to discovery a new world. I left the bay of Palos with a crew of ninety.

Aug 5, 1492

It was beautiful day.

We called at the Canary Islands. We did meticulous preparation to voyage but I feel uneasy. If we can’t discovery the new world, crows direct their anger at me. I consider any possibility, I can’t sleep.

Sep 10, 1492

It was a windy day.

I escaped existent of this diary. I write diary after a long time. We haven’t found the new world yet. Crows are irritated this thing. They give me a cold shoulder. I’m lonely.

Sep 25, 1492

It was a rainy and a gale day.

Today’s sea was very rough. We had a dangerous experience. One of the crew was out of a ship. I felt very sad.

Oct 6, 1492

It was a bit cloudy day.

Crews started a riot at last. The reason is to do not go as expected voyage.

Oct 9, 1492

Crews have reaches the peak of dissatisfied. They said “If we can’t found the new world while three days, we go back our country.”  So I promised it. To tell the truth, I’m panic.

It was clear day.

A plot to throw me into the sea came to light. I feel danger.  However I want to find the new world by pure luck.

Oct 12, 1492

It was a very beautiful day.

At long last the day my dream came true arrived. Last night, we discovered the new world!!!!  We did it!!!  Early this morning, I landed the new world and I named the new world is “San Salvador”.  After strolling, I granted shore leave. We will make a investigation thoroughly San Salvador tomorrow. Let’s get ready for tomorrow by early tonight.

Oct 13, 1492

It was a shower day.

We carried out a survey. On the way, we met natives. They gave us water and foods. Then they bought parrots, cottonseeds, and the others that we don’t look. So we gave beads of glass etc in exchanged for them, but my interest is the place where the money is kept.

Oct 14, 1492

It was a sunny day.

We seized something and take six natives. And we left San Salvador.

Mar 15, 1943

It was beautiful day.

We went back the bay of Palos! The bay was filled with people who come to welcome us. And king gave me many rewards. I was very happy!!! I’m planning to voyage again to get many rewards again!!
